Summer 2005 Patzcuaro Trip
Thanks to our 2005 and previous equipment donors and sponsors
Founded in 1999 by Lloyd Connelly, Patzcuaro HELP is a non-profit organization that helps (pre) medical and (pre) nursing students gain clinical experience in a small Mexican hospital, arranges Spanish lessons at a nearby language school, and helps participants arrange the
donation and delivery of medical equipment/supplies and monetary donations to the hospital where they will be volunteering.  Through these efforts, Patzcuaro HELP hopes to achieve the following primary goals:

Provide an oportunity for students to learn Spanish through an immersion-learning method while working in a clinical environment, thus responding to a growing disparity in health care - the relative shortage of Spanish-speaking physicians.
Provide students interested in pursuing health care vocations an opportunity to gain valuable clinical experience that may spur an interest in continuing to serve Hispanic populations in the U.S.
Provide financial assistance to the small hospital Civil Gabriel Garcia, thus providing a rewarding service to the surrounding community, which relies on this hospital for its healthcare needs.
You'll be living and working in the enchanting city of Patzcuaro, Michoacan, and the Hospital Civil Gabriel Garcia:
